Meet The Founder
Instructional Designer, Educator, and Researcher
Jocelyn Martin is an educator, entrepreneur, mother, wife, instructional designer, and lifelong learner who has dedicated her career to transforming the education landscape. With a bachelor's degree in special education and a minor in sociology, Jocelyn developed a deep understanding of the interactions between diverse groups of people. This early passion for inclusive education guided her path as she became a K-12 public school teacher. While teaching, she pursued a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, driven by her love for creating inclusive and thoughtful instructional materials that engage and inspire learners of all ages and backgrounds.
Jocelyn’s vision extended beyond the familiar and often traditional teaching methods. Recognizing the limitations of conventional approaches, she felt compelled to step away from the norm and explore the unknown. With her husband's encouragement and a deep desire to make a profound impact on underserved communities, Jocelyn began her entrepreneurial journey. This bold decision led her to found Averting Familiar Education, LLC, where she combines her expertise in education with her optimistic and resilient spirit to create innovative and holistic educational resources.
