Difference Makers Onboarding

Organizational Alignment Through Onboarding & Learning

Client: Religious Organization
Role: Organizational Alignment Consultant, Curriculum Designer & Learning Experience Developer

The organization already had a clear mission, established values, ministry expectations, leadership practices, and a vision for how volunteers—known as Difference Makers—would contribute to its work.

AFE's role was not to create that vision. It was to help the existing pieces work together.

Through conversations with organizational leadership, review of existing practices and resources, and ongoing observation of organizational needs, AFE helped translate the organization's vision into a more intentional onboarding and development experience. The work connected organizational purpose, individual identity, role expectations, leadership responsibility, and learning so participants could better understand both where they fit and how their contribution supported the larger mission.

What AFE Helped Align

  • Organizational mission and individual contribution

  • Volunteer identity and role expectations

  • Leadership expectations and organizational values

  • Existing onboarding practices and developmental needs

  • Spiritual formation and practical responsibility

  • Individual strengths and opportunities to serve

  • Learning content and the organization's lived culture

From Existing Pieces to an Aligned Experience

Rather than introducing a generic leadership-development program, AFE organized and translated what the organization already valued into a structured learning experience.

The resulting framework helped participants explore:

  • Identity and self-awareness

  • Spiritual gifts and individual strengths

  • Responsibility and role clarity

  • Emotional intelligence and self-regulation

  • Systems and environmental awareness

  • Alignment between values, behavior, and organizational purpose

  • Moving from intention to meaningful contribution

Reflective exercises, facilitated dialogue, applied scenarios, personal testimony, prayer, Scripture, and structured learning activities were intentionally combined to help participants connect who they are, what they carry, how they show up, and what the organization is working toward collectively.
